Eat to Live or Live to Eat?

No one can deny the importance of food to the physical growth and well being. Taking good food and a balanced diet is key to living long and enjoying good health. Without good diet, one is bound to fall ill often and if that happens, it would be difficult to achieve a lot of the dreams that we have.  Without being alive and well, dreams make no meaning.

You might wonder what is really the difference between ‘Eating to Live’ and ‘Living to Eat’, aren’t they both containing three words?

There is no small difference. ‘Eat to Live’ suggests that you are doing everything you can to watch the kinds of food you take with the right proportion and ensure that they are those that nourish you in the best possible way so your body can be in the best possible shape and help you perform your daily tasks well, with enough reserve of energy. To this class of people eating is a means to an end, and not an end in itself.

But on the other hand, those who ‘Live to Eat’ see food as and behave towards it as an ‘end’, so they eat only to gratify the urge for food. They eat anytime, anyhow and anywhere. They are almost like slaves to food and eating. Gluttonous is not inappropriate a word to describe them. These categories of people generally have no self-control as far as food is concerned. They also are not generally cleanliness conscious. Where the food is prepared makes no difference as long as it is called food.

Do you fall in the category of these people?

If yes, then you just might want to agree that this is one area you must work on  in the new year if you must make amends.
